  • The young seagull was sitting alone on a ledge. His two brothers and sister had already learned to fly, but he was too afraid. Once, he had tried to fly, but the deep sea below frightened him. He thought his wings would not support him, so he quickly returned to his little hole.
  • His brothers and sister had flown away, even though their wings were shorter than his. His parents called him, scolded him, and encouraged him to fly. But he was too scared to move. They wanted him to learn that he could fly just like the other birds.
  • The young seagull had been alone for twenty-four hours. The hot sun was shining on the ledge. He was very hungry because he had not eaten since the previous night. Across the cliff, he watched his family resting together. He wished he could fly and enjoy himself with them.
  • His mother had a piece of fish near her feet. The young seagull loved fish and became very hungry when he saw it. He called out, asking his mother for food. His mother picked up the fish and flew toward him.
  • The young seagull eagerly moved toward the fish, but his mother stopped just before reaching him. The fish was close, but he could not reach it. Driven by hunger, he jumped toward the fish. Suddenly, he fell off the ledge into the open air!
  • At first, the young seagull was terrified. He thought he was falling into the sea. Then, he felt the wind under his wings. His wings spread out, and he began to glide. He flapped his wings and slowly rose into the air. He discovered that he could fly!
  • His family landed on the sea and called him to join them. He lowered his legs, but they sank into the water. He became frightened and tried to fly again. Soon, his belly touched the water, and he stopped sinking. He was floating safely!
  • His family surrounded him and happily offered him pieces of fish. The young seagull had overcome his fear and completed his first flight. Moral: Fear can stop us from trying, but courage helps us discover our abilities. Believe in yourself and never give up.
